Ambiente has now created the Ambiente Designer Community, a meeting place for designers from all over the world, which culminates at Ambiente as part of the Designer Day, for an even more intensive, focussed and direct exchange of ideas. Where the Makers Meet: Industry and design in dialogue
Messe Frankfurt’s tradition as a business platform for manufacturers and retailers goes back almost 800 years. As the leading trade fair for everything that makes life more beautiful and easier, Ambiente has a history of collaboration with international design luminaries. Since its inception, the fair has attracted international design greats such as Mark Braun, Ineke Hans, Sebastian Herkner, Ross Lovegrove, Paola Navone, Olivia Putman and Karim Rashid, who come here to exchange ideas and meet potential clients from the industry.

Focus on design: the new Designer Day
The Saturday of the 2024 trade fair will be Designer Day for the first time: five designers and studios will organise this day. They will shed light on relevant current design topics from different perspectives. On the stage of, the designers will provide insights into their work, encourage reflection on design and look forward to exchanging ideas with like-minded people. Under the heading “Material Health”, architect Alison Mears and designer Jonsara Ruth will talk about the extent to which design has a social responsibility today: What will the materials, design and architecture of the future have to be like in order to make living spaces truly liveable? In his keynote speech, Christoph Brach will examine design from the perspective of colour psychology. The designer and founder of the internationally renowned Dutch studio Raw Color will talk about the power of colour in the design of products, spaces and brand identities.
Beacons of design: Ambiente Designers with their own special presentation
Ambiente Designer of the Year – a creative spirit can claim this title every year from Ambiente 2024 onwards. The designated creator will design a special presentation under a defined theme from a selection of Ambiente exhibitor products. At Ambiente 2024, artist and product designer Elena Salmistraro from Milan will be presenting her flagship project: With The Lounge – A Serious Game, she interprets her vision of a lounge at the thematic interface between interior design, HoReCa and contract business in Galleria 1: “I have opted for a theme that offers an innovative perspective, not through a formally strict approach, but with a cheerful look at contemporary design and a focus on the pursuit of happiness.” Salmistraro will give an insight into her design concept for The Lounge on the Conzoom Solutions Academy stage on the Saturday of the fair at 15:30 in Hall 4 in the Europa room. Elena Salmistraro concludes the Conzoom Solutions Academy on the Designer Day with her presentation. Afterwards, Ambiente invites you to the first ever Designer Community Live: At this informal get-together on the Saturday of the fair at 4 pm in front of the room Europa in Hall 4, people working in design will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, meet like-minded people and make new business contacts.
